I am always asked to talk about myself. That is hard. What people see is a well eloquent African Woman. Well trained in her profession to deliver as a media person, a teacher, a mum, a wife and a community leader. What people do not know is that I have a history.
Who is Janet Wainaina?
Janet is a girl from a remote village of the ethnically volatile village in molo district, Rift Valley of Kenya. Many of you cannot prounounce, comprehend or even believe this. Yes, a village has ended up to be one of the London best teacher, broadcaster and community leader producer.
How did this happen?
Parentage; Though I was born in a polygamous family, my parents believed in being your best. We did not have much, apart from parents who highly believed in us and instilled in us values that allow growth. Happiness is something you find in yourself and spread to others, so I learnt. I am a happy person, hardworking, forgiving, Loving and many positive attitudes i believe in, because i choose to believe in positivity.
Education: I am educated. I have made it possible, even with minimal resources, to have a profession that allows me to have command in my doctrine. In Kenya, Education has moved many from poverty to kingship. In Britain though, my academic qualifications has made it possible for me to intergrate and be a career person. It is a lifetime qualification, so to me, nothing has fed my life more than my desire to get more educated.
Friendship: Anybody who has interacted with me knows that i am a smiley happy person. I choose friends for different reasons and seasons. Those who inspire my growth as a professional, those who are fun to be with and relax, those who are valuable to my children, Those who challenge me to improve and many more categories not likely to be mentioned here. Friends can sometimes build or destroy you, its you to determine the builders and the destroyers.
Sometimes my positivity is infectious. I see the goodness in people, in situations and in projects, then I am able to employ my skills to make the project a success. If you are prone to complains, laziness, challenges or even denounce ideas, they will probably fail. If you are encouraging, motivated, positive and committed to ideas, they will succeed.
