You were so wonderful, never growing weary even at the worst times, your smiles showed your beautiful heart, and your eyes, even when really hurt showed hope beyond human imagination and that is why I am grateful that I have had you for a mother. You always looked on the bright side and even when you weren’t feeling well, never complained and always wanted to be independent and self reliant. You demonstrated your character, wisdom, strength, hard work and humility when our father died in 1991. I want to be like you.
Yes, No one can explain how you did it, some shocked, others overwhelmed for how you brought success from a hopeless situation. We never saw you shed tears; if you did it was in your lonely solitude at night. You forgave the hurts you experienced and showed all of us the power of forgiveness. Loving each one of us in equal measures and supporting each one of us in a unique special way, equipping us to support the wider community. We are left here, representing your good works in our chosen fields. We promise to ALWAYS make you proud.
I will keep your memories alive by following your teachings and your virtues. I will make sure your legacy has been experienced through many generations to come. This is my promise to you mum. I was not ready for you to go. How can I ? After you have worked to see all of us stable and enjoying life without poverty. We wanted you to live longer to enjoy this life, to be spoilt by all of us, to look back and sing, Look what the lord has done!! But God was ready for you, to rest, to be happy forever, as your life on earth has been sheer success. I have to let you go mum.
In my mind, I remember your face – one of beauty, one with rarely a frown, and always almost a smile. Never a harsh word – just a gentle kind smile saying kind words to those you knew. You have passed this positive attitude that I have. I will always miss you, will always love you and always thank God for having the best mother in the whole wide world.
And as I celebrate this day I call a birthday, I dedicate to you, Dad and Mum, Because you, this season MANY years ago, you were holding a bundle of Joy, that has turned out to be me. Therefore, be my angels. Help me leave a mark, like you have. THINKING OF YOU, MAKE THIS A HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
