Colleagues and a few Kenyan community in oxford gathered to celebraate the life of DR ANNE NDUNGU who passed away last 3 weeks ago from natural causes
Anne was a senior postdoc in computational genomics employed by the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, seconded to the Oxford EndoCare Centre at the Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health. She was working on understanding the effects of rare and common genetic variation contributing to risk of uterine fibroids and endometriosis, two very common and poorly understood women’s health conditions. Her work on uterine fibroids was in the context of the Oxford-Bayer collaboration in gynaecological therapies, working with teams across Oxford and Berlin. She is co-author on a paper recently accepted by Nature Genetics, and had several other works in preparation.
Anne was a much loved member of the Oxford EndoCare Centre, known for her intelligence, kindness, diligence and willingness to work with and help others. She will be sorely missed. It is our hope that our two departments can draw together as we mourn Anne and support each other in the days and weeks ahead. If you need additional support:
